Do you believe in what you can't see?

Author: Afiq Kamaruddin

Bismillahirrahmanirrahim

I am living in the world of thirst. I can’t resist the pressure anymore after looking at the world nowadays. I am not a politician expert, nor a pious wise guy. I am just an ordinary teenager, who is expecting for extra ordinary things to happen. With a little bit of effort and hope, I am sure that nothing is impossible. With respect to the limitations as a human being, playing ‘God’ is absolutely, totally, and obviously insurmountable. That’s it. The appropriate punctuation to be used here is full stop. Why? Because we will never be God no matter how pious, intelligent, or superior we are. The analogy is simple; can a robot that we created to serve us create us? The answer is NO. In that sense, someone might argue with a ‘so called’ techno-mad argument; are you saying that God created us to serve HIM, like the way we created robots to serve us? The answer is absolutely NO. – To all robo-fans, I am sorry for using robot as my lab rats in my metaphor; I think it is fitted well in it isn’t it?. What makes robot differs from human is the purpose of their creation. One is absolute servant to the creator, while another one is absolute servant to the Creator, along with ruler of the creations to follow the rules of the Creator

Before we move on, let us back to basic my dearest brothers and sisters. The essence of life is to create living. We may live, but we might not have life if we couldn’t figure out the way to create living. I refer living as the disciplines in the way we think, talk, hear, act, and response to the environment according to the divine revelations. In precise, the essence of life can be achieved if we manage to fulfill these two criteria that the God have outlined for us. The simple Arabic words to use are ‘Khalifah’ and ‘Abdullah’. The concept of Khalifah is mainly about the concept of ruling while Abdullah is the concept of Allah’s servant and believers.

Since the world is populated with humans, animals, and plants – those who can be seen by naked eyes, humans have the priority and superiority to rule the world accordingly since they can think in the appropriate ways of prospering the world. The concept of ruling is wide; hence I would like to narrow it down by picking up the global issues that are currently upraising. In Africa, despite of having a political crisis, they are currently lack of supply of iodine which can contribute to a disease. In China, Tibetans went amok and demonstrated a protest to the government for the coming 2008 Beijing Olympic Games after a monk claimed that there had been a serious underlying genocide activity by the army towards the Tibetans. Well, maybe some of us might say that these are just internal crisis in a particular country. So why must we bother? It’s their country, so why do we need to help them? Very well said but not very well think though, how about crisis in Iraq, Pakistan, India, Afghanistan, Thailand, and other poor yet unlucky countries that are in invasion of other superior country which initially claimed they are the savior of the world? Instead they are actually taking advantage on what is happening to that particular country. Hidden propagandas are created, with the help of media which are always on their side, bribed by money and prosperity; it will be absolutely easy for them to penetrate the shield that protects the country’s dignity. How sad, how horrified, if you want to grieve or burst into tears, this is the time.

The point here is why can’t we live together in a peaceful atmosphere? Why the strongest don’t want to help the weakest? Hello- is the concept of status discrimination is still relevant to the ‘so called’ developed and educated nations? Something which always keep popping in my mind will be “What is happening in our world?”. “Where is the function of the UN?”, “Have OIC finished their conference yet? When will they start to act?”, “Why we need to have so many ‘ideologies’ in determining who is going to govern our country?”, Why this, why that…. Just read the daily news and we’ll find that everyday, there must be at least one negative global issue occurs.

Indeed as a teenager, who is craving to live in a world of peace and prosperity, surely I am hoping for all of us to unite without leaving anyone behind. It’s kind of difficult to achieve and might sound too optimistic, but as I mention before, impossible is nothing. We need to start step by step. History has shown us that during the era of Islamic Empire, two third of the world were under the ruling of Islamic Caliph System. Yet all of them live in prosperity, peace and harmony. The social, economical, and political status were indeed superb. To one extent, during the ruling of the Caliph Umar Ibnu Aziz, the percentage of poverty was zero. None of them was eligible to receive zakat. The Baitul Mal system was systematic and efficient. Zero corruption, zero conspiracy, zero bribery, zero crime. Subhanallah.

O Allah, show us the Amir of Ummah to prosper this world with Your divine revelations. Guide us to stay on your right path. Don’t let us betray. Show us the light of truth. Indeed, no calamity strikes except by Allah’s will.

My brothers and sisters, now it is the time for us to think into details on how we regard our life as. Our world’s fate is in our hand. The war between good and evil is going to be continuous until the Hour comes. It is indeed indisputable. We have to equip ourselves no matter how with appropriate armors. The armor of knowledge, the armor of noble deeds, the armor of maturity and responsibility, the armor of wisdom, the armor of purity and sincerity, and the most important thing, is the armor of Faith. Believing in what you don’t see by your bare eyes, but convincing whole heartedly in what you believe do exist and it is true. Let us apply the concept of khalifah in managing our life first so that we have confidence in what we believe. Slowly but surely.

This thought comes from the bottom of my heart. It might be too optimistic though, but I believe in a phrase ‘action speaks louder that words’. If realistic and systematic actions are being taken, provided with steadfast effort and Tawakkal A’lallah, it is possible to turn something that we are optimist of into a reality. By God’s will. Insya-Allah.

Wallahua'lam
